Youth activities

We’ve been given funding by the North Berwick Area Partnership via the Children and Youth Network for young people aged 10 to 18 living in Aberlady, towards a series of activities.

In 2022, these started with surf skateboarding (each Friday for five weeks) and parkour (one-off event), and continues with art classes in Spring 2023.

Dates below, any queries please email Mo – modemowbray@hotmail.com

Art classes

Two art sessions on 11 and 18 March 2023. 3 – 5pm, Kirk Stables Aberlady.

Join two local artists for an afternoon of fun and creativity.

Limited numbers, online registration on Eventbrite >>

11 March 2023
Sandra Vick

We will be drawing on the local natural environment for the inspiration for this class. Drawing and making prints inspired by the local seabirds and seashore creatures.  We will learn how important it is to look properly when drawing, how to make things look like we want them to, and how to do some printmaking.  We will do some relief printing with inks as well as learning a clean printmaking technique you can do at home.

Printing inks tends to be a bit messy so bring something to wear over your clothes to keep them clean of ink.

PAINT A POSTER
Let loose – think big – create

In this art workshop we’ll be working on a big scale to create a personalised poster for your wall (or ceiling). We’ll look at composition, scale, expression and experiment with different paint techniques. The theme will loosely be music and nature but can be personalised.

You might get painty so wear suitable clothes!

Background

A massive thank you to all Aberlady 10-18 year olds who filled in our Youth Network survey in December 2021.

In January 2022 we submitted a funding request to the North Berwick Area Partnership via the Children and Youth Network and it was successful!

We’re super excited about these activities and hope you are too. Remember you made it happen!!
