Food updates, including deliveries from Big Blu pizza

MMM, PIZZA! AND not just any old pizza, either. Aberlady’s tastebuds have been tingling following the news that Dunbar-based The Big Blu is now delivering oven-ready versions of its delicious pizzas.

Famous for serving straight from their blue van with its wood-fired oven, The Big Blu have adapted their pizza recipe for home ovens and now the boys are taking orders for deliveries in three zones, ours being ‘North Berwick and the Coast’. You need to check out which days they’re coming our way, then put in your order two days ahead. Details on their website at

One of the first places we’ll be going when cafes and restaurants come out of lockdown is Lewis and Clarke, run by Aberlady folk from their base in Gifford. They have been offering their own quirky take on delivery meals, featuring afternoon tea one week and a Thai takeaway the next. Keep an eye on their socials rather than their website to see what the next treat will be. lewisandclarkeartisankitchen

More good news comes from Ballencrieff’s finest wine merchant, Richard Bouglet, and his buddies at L’Art du Vin, who continue to deliver wine by the case from their base in Fife. Specialists in organic, biodynamic and natural wine, they are currently offering a discount of 12 per cent and free home delivery. They do really good mixed cases, three bottles each of four different wines. See

Also don’t forget our local gin-makers, Fidra, who are offering a 10 per cent discount on all online purchases just now. Find them at

Finally, a shout out to the flour producers at Mungoswells, who seem single-handedly to be keeping East Lothian’s bakers going. You can buy their flour from Lil Things (see this website’s Food pages) or from the Why Not? shop on North Berwick high street and from a host of other places too numerous to mention. They do have an online shop but they are a little swamped just now.
