Aberlady village shop
Gosford Bothy farm shop
Aberlady village shop
Aberlady’s village store was closed for just one day to be re-stocked by its new owners, Margiotta of Edinburgh. It is currently open every day and sells all the essentials as well as a number of luxuries. Staff are friendly, helpful and cheerful at a time when their presence is greatly appreciated by the village. Opening hours to be confirmed.
Lil is a super-cool social enterprise that supplies store-cupboard staple foods as well as household essentials such as cleaning products, all with minimal packaging. ‘Click and collect’ is free: they drop your order at a local collection point, and there’s one in Aberlady.
Bostock’s popular cafes at their base in East Linton and on the high street at North Berwick are closed, so Bostock are delivering instead! Delivery around East Lothian of buns, bread, croissants and more. Because they are baking to order, you need to allow two clear days before your goodies reach you.
Brand Family farm shop
You can still shop in person at the farm shop, over near East Fortune airfield, but it’s better to order in advance and collect, or get a delivery. Delivery days are Tuesdays and Fridays; orders must be placed by noon on Mondays and Thursdays. Click on ‘Delivery Shopping List’ to see their range.
East Lothian Vegetables
… supplying boxes of fruit and veg at £10 for a small box and £20 for a family box. Typical box includes apples, pears, bananas, hispi cabbage, cavalo nero, celeriac, onions, potatoes, carrots, garlic, tomatoes and fresh herbs. For a little extra you can add eggs, unsalted butter and avocados.
The Mart Farm Shop, East Linton
The Mart’s new delivery service is now fully up and running, delivering every day – it takes about 48 hours from order to delivery. If you are familiar with their shop, everything they stock can be delivered: but their website has a small list of essentials.
Yester Farm Dairies
Now offering free home delivery to East Lothian on Tuesday (order by midnight on Sunday) and Thursday (order by midnight on Tuesday): minimum order £10. Specialising in cheese and yogurt but with other essentials available too.
Meat, fish, fruit and veg
Andersons Quality Butcher

James Dickson & Son, fishmonger
The Cockenzie-based fishmonger’s vans are already a familiar sight in Aberlady, and will continue to deliver during the current situation. High-quality fish plus special oak-smoked salmon. Deliveries are free: check this update for current arrangements.
Wilson’s Fresh Farm Produce
Wilson’s shops in Musselburgh and North Berwick are mainly fruit and veg specialists, but they do have lots more on offer too including fish, eggs and honey. Both shops are open as normal and their delivery system is trying to cope with demand.
Jo Lawrence, who usually does catering, is cooking and delivering high-quality ‘ready meals’ to the folk of our locality (free delivery to Haddington and East Linton, a small fee elsewhere). Minimum order £15, please order two days ahead. Latest news and choices are on Jo’s Facebook page, along with the occasional recipe.
Freshly made sushi delivered across East Lothian, daily except Sunday. Minimum charge £20, delivery charge £3.50, orders taken between 10am and 4pm but need to be in by 4pm for same-day delivery. Also raises funds for East Lothian Food Bank.
Aberlady’s own Craig Wood has repurposed his catering business in a matter of days to focus on ‘home cooking by award-winning chefs, delivered to your door’. Order by midnight Sunday for delivery on Tuesday (5pm-8pm), or by midnight Wednesday to get your food in Friday evening. Main dishes from £5, minimum order £30, delivery fee £4.
Your local shops – still open!
Gosford Bothy farm shop
The cafe is closed but the farm shop is open, supplying its usual excellent meat and pies, as well as fruit and veg, and a range of quality delicatessen goodies. For now, the Bothy is closed on Sunday and Monday and open 9.30am to 5pm from Tuesday to Saturday. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for updates.
* We mean they literally deliver – except for the two shops in Aberlady.
